PSG central defender Thiago Silva has spoken to Le Parisien today ahead of the club’s crucial clash with Chelsea this evening. Highlights.
On Laurent Blanc’s new contract & how much he talks to the president:
The president and I never spoke about the contract extension of the manager. We speak often about players that we need to help the team. I give my opinion on the subject, but, in terms of the manager, it is different, we do not speak about that often.
On Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract situation:
It is hard, because it does not concern me. I do not know what is going on in Ibra’s head nor do I know what is going on in the head of the president. But, with everything that he has done this year, Ibra has given the president a choice to make.
To have a player like him, he is indispensable. I know that the president is intelligent and will extend his contract… if Ibra wants to.
On who he would prefer to have at PSG next season, Neymar or Cristiano Ronaldo:
It is a difficult one. Can we take both of them? Seriously, they are two world class players. Cristiano has a bit more experience than Neymar. But Neymar is only 24 and is already at the top. I think that, next year or the year after, he will be the best player in the world if Messi gives that place up.

Neymar is very good and intelligent. He has a lot of people who work for him and support him. His father, who I know, is there as well. That allows one to be at peace as a player.
Because I am Brazilian, I am like his big brother. And Cristiano, he is Portuguese, it is different, even if it is the same language. We spoke a bit (with Neymar) during the Ballon D’Or in Zurich. I said to him: “Come, come to play in Paris with me!”
He laughed a bit but did not react. Then he said: “We will see, we will continue like this and, at the end of the season, you will know what I will do.”
On Sebastien Corchia:
We have lots of quality players. I think that Sebastien Corchia, the right-back at Lille, has lots of quality. We have two very good right-backs, Van der Wiel and Aurier. If one of the two decides to leave, I think that if PSG want to sign a player from France, then they should get him.
On Diego Costa:
I played with Diego Costa once for the Brazilian national team. He is a very good boy off the pitch. He makes you laugh. But, on the pitch, it is difficult. If you speak to him, you lose focus on the match. That is why I let him talk to himself. You get the impression that he is just a crazy person talking to himself.
