HATBORO, PA —Nancy Guenst has taken several steps up the borough’s political ladder.
Seventeen years ago, Guenst felt a calling to public service. She decided to run for Hatboro Borough Council and spent two terms there. (Her son, Alex Myers, now serves on Borough Council.)
Guenst, 65, had operated and owned Designs In Stone, Inc. for 23 years before politics became her next career path.

In 2016, Guenst took her next step. She ran for mayor.
Guenst served as the first woman in borough history to become mayor. But her political path didn’t end there.

Next came the chance to seek office to represent the 152nd Legislative District, which covers Hatboro, Upper Moreland, Lower Moreland, Bryn Athyn, and a portion of Abington.
She made that bid in 2019 and has represented the district ever since. Guenst is hoping her third run will also be the charm as she is seeking re-election to the post in the April 28 primary election. She is running unopposed.
“I am so excited to announce my run for a third term on the state House of Representatives,” Guenst told Patch. “It has been an honor and a privilege to serve our constituents in the 152nd district. I am now running for our 3rd term and looking forward to many more.”
Guenst said that due to her director and staff, her office has become one of the busiest in the state and she plans on it remaining that way.
Guenst is a U.S. Army veteran. She entered the Army in 1976 and honorably served the country at Field Station Berlin as a coding analyst and German translator.
“I understand the challenges that veterans face in life after service,” Guenst said, adding that she represents veterans as a member of the Capital’s Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee.
She was also named as a member of the Advisory Board for the Keystone Challenge School at Fort Indiantown Gap, just north of Harrisburg.
Guenst also serves as a representative on the Ethics Committee, Professional Licensure Committee, State Government Committee, and Children and Youth Committee.
