Shimla Deploys Police To Ensure There Is No Water Riot In The Hills

Residents of Shimla are reeling under acute water crisis. To save water and make resources available for the locals, tourists have been asked to stay away from Shimla until the hill station tides over its devastating water crisis.

Following the drinking water shortage, the Municipal Corporation is distributing water under police protection.

More than 70 police personnel have been specially deployed to deal with the situation in the water-deprived hill-station.

A local mineral water wholesale trader told ANI that the demand for bottled water has increased by 50 to 60 per cent due to water scarcity in Shimla.

“Usually I supply 400 packs of water bottles but now the demand has increased to 700 plus for retailers,” he said.
