Speaking in the aftermath of AS Monaco’s 2-0 win against Angers on Sunday, Philippe Clement said that he is hoping that Aleksandr Golovin (26) can add to Sunday’s goal in the coming matches.
Golovin came on as a second-half substitute and made an almost immediate impact, curling an effort from outside the box into the top corner. The goal was his second of the season and his 19th in a Monaco shirt. However, Clement is wanting the Russian playmaker to add more goals to his game.
Questioned on Golovin’s performance, Clement replied, “I am very, very happy [with his performance]. He has had a lot of chances like that in the past weeks, where he has forced the shots. We have spoken about that and shown him the images because he has the quality to score lots more goals like this.”
He continued, “I hope that with this experience, he goes on a run of scoring more goals like that because he has the quality to do it.”
