New design area
This edition has again allowed extra space for young, upcoming and promising designers.
Next focuses on young designers who have already passed the start phase with their high quality collections. Cutting edge shows off avant-garde fashion by designers who are about to make a breakthrough. modefabriek is also organising ‘Talent 2009’ together with HTNK recruitment & consultancy, with a selection of the most talented graduation collections produced by various different Dutch and Antwerp fashion academies.

From traditional to abstract
The creative collaboration with the Zuiderzee Museum has resulted in an extraordinary exhibition. Attention will be devoted to the rich traditions linked to the Zuiderzee area and contemporary design inspired by these historic traditions from a stylish and homely exhibition area. The exhibition will include work by designers like Scholten & Baijings and Studio Job.
Daryl van wouw Parade
Street couture designer Daryl van Wouw will be unveiling his latest collection during modefabriek with a sensational catwalk parade. A parade of models will be walking across the exhibition floor twice a day, at 12:00 pm and 14:00 pm.
Fashion vs Art
Versatile artist Jeroen Henneman will be exhibiting his ‘The Nature of the Animal’ work of aluminium sculptures cast in sand. Visual artist Ferry Staverman has also allowed himself to be inspired by nature and will be exhibiting his refined three dimensional paper ‘tree sculptures’. Illustrator Kate van Harreveld will be exhibiting her work too. Insiders are no doubt familiar with her sexy-romantic illustrations from magazines, as a result of her collaboration with Marlies Dekkers or because of the design creations produced for Viktor & Rolf. You will also find an exclusive supply of inspiring trade literature regarding fashion, design and art in bookshop Mendo’s pop-up store.
Food & drink
’mf dine at Envy’ will also be organising an attractive terrace with a diverse supply of culinary delights for this edition, in cooperation with Envy delicacies and design agency Moon and Co. True to tradition, the first exhibition day will have a dazzling finish with a festive modefabriek drink. A get-together for exhibition invitees and VIP’s at the summery Stand Zuid location.
