Marcus Rashford ‘close’ to signing new Manchester United contract worth more than £15m-a-year – reports

Marcus Rashford is ‘close’ to signing a new deal at Manchester United which would make him one of their highest earners.

The England international has enjoyed a sensational rise to the top after making his first-team debut under Louis van Gaal three years ago.

Reports on Friday night suggested the club were ‘hopeful’ of making a deal happen. But it seems as though there have been developments.

According to The Telegraph, Rashford is close to signing a four-year deal worth £250,000-a-week.

The 21-year-old has attracted the attention of Barcelona in recent months, but sees his future at Old Trafford.

It is understood the Red Devils will make an official announcement before flying to Australia for the club’s rep-season tour to Australia.

Although the contract does not make him the club’s top earner, Rashford will be right at the top end of United’s pay scale behind Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez.

The striker’s new deal is said to be highly incentivized and could be worth more than £300,000-a-week if certain targets are met (over £15.6 million annually.)

Romelu Lukaku has lost his place as the main striker at Old Trafford to the youngster and is expected to complete a move to Inter Milan.

David De Gea’s future has also been the source of much contention, with United still hopeful of signing the goalkeeper to a new deal before his contract runs out next summer.
