Marcelo Bielsa: Leeds boss promises not to disclose team news… then reveals starting XI to face Wigan

Marcelo Bielsa doesn’t play by the rules. If you didn’t know that by now, where have you been for the last 12 months?

In his first season in English football, the Leeds manager confessed to spying on his opponents, delivered an impromptu 66-minute PowerPoint presentation on his coaching methods, and allowed the opposition to score an unopposed equaliser.

Despite the club’s failed promotion bid, the man on the blue bucket, suitably nicknamed ‘El Loco’, is already a cult hero in Yorkshire.

He can do no wrong. But there is one small thing which bothers fans: he keeps letting the team news slip.

It’s okay, though, because Bielsa has promised to change his ways for the new campaign.

Speaking ahead of Leeds’ upcoming clash with Wigan on Saturday, the Whites boss said: “I cannot name the team before the game, as a supporter said I was giving away a lot to the opposition.”

Or, maybe not. He added: “But between you and me it’s the same team.”

That means the starting line-up will be the same one that started the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest: Casilla, Dallas, White, Cooper, Douglas, Phillips, Hernandez, Forshaw, Klich, Harrison, Bamford.

Just don’t tell Wigan!
