Manchester United transfer news: Blaise Matuidi ‘available’ to sign but Premier League club unlikely to be interested

Blaise Matuidi would be available this summer, but Manchester United are unlikely to sign him, talkSPORT has been told.

Juventus have strength in depth in midfield following their signings during the transfer window.

Both Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot joined on free transfers, which could see 32-year-old Matuidi fall further down the pecking order.

As well as the new signings, the Serie A side have Miralem Pjanic, Emre Can, Sami Khedira and Rodrigo Bentancur at their disposal.

Manchester United have lost players in that position and could do with some more depth.

Marouane Fellani was not replaced when he moved to China in January and Ander Herrera left on a free transfer at the end of his contract.

A move for World Cup winner Matuidi is unlikely, though, as it would go against their transfer policy this summer.

Quizzed on Man United’s rumoured interest in Matuidi, European football expert Mark Langdon told talkSPORT: “Juventus need to let somebody go in their midfield because they’ve signed Ramsey and Rabiot, so Matuidi is available.

“PSG have had him before and as they’ve signed Idrissa Gueye I don’t think they would want him and Matuidi as well; it might be one too many defensive midfielders.

Simon Jordan says Man Utd are 'going back to Class of 92' by signing young players

“Most of Manchester United’s business has been looking at younger players, with [Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James, both 21], and even the ones they’ve been looking at not in that Matuidi age bracket.

“It would be a strange transfer policy from the [rest of the] summer.”
