The 2018/19 season was a truly memorable one for Liverpool as it ended with them becoming champions of Europe for a sixth time in their history.
Their 2-0 victory over Tottenham sparked mass celebrations across Merseyside, but there is the small matter of them narrowly missing out on the Premier League title that will bug Kopites.
Liverpool managed to amass 97 points last season but were beaten to the crown by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who finished on 98.
So it’s likely the Reds will try to strengthen this summer and bring in more recruits to get them challenging for trophies again.
They are reportedly close to completing their first signing of the summer with Netherlands Under-19 Sepp van den Berg, who has been described as ‘baby Van Dijk’, set to move to Anfield from PEC Zwolle.
However, given he is 17-years-old he’s clearly one for the future.

As for the here and now Liverpool will have their eyes on players who are ready to make an immediate impact.
John Aldridge, who played as a striker for the Anfield club between 1987-89, has already had a few ideas about who Jurgen Klopp’s men can bring in before the deadline on August 8.
Matthijs de Ligt
The Ajax defender is arguably the most sought after player in European football with a number of big clubs wanting his signature.
Liverpool were one of those clubs linked to him largely due to the fact De Ligt plays alongside Virgil van Dijk with the Netherlands and Aldridge was desperate for the Reds to sign the 19-year-old up.
However, it looks like Juventus have won the battle for De Ligt and Aldridge used the first available opportunity to admit Liverpool probably weren’t going to get him.
Kalidou Koulibaly
Another brilliant defender every big club has been linked to is Napoli’s Koulibaly.
And in January, Aldridge suggested Liverpool should go in for him to give Van Dijk a world class partner at centre-back.
Shortly after Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat at Manchester City, the Reds’ only Premier League defeat of the season, Aldridge said: “I wonder whether a move for a powerhouse defender like Kalidou Koulibaly could give Klopp’s side the bite they need at the back.
“Top-quality opposition continue to get joy out of targeting Dejan Lovren, as he has a tendancy to lose concentration and this is why I believe Van Dijk needs an A-list defensive partner.”
Lucas Moura
Aldridge target De Ligt was unable to stop Moura, who scored a sensational second-half hat-trick against Ajax to book Tottenham’s place in the Champions League final.
And the ex-Red was clearly impressed with the Brazilian’s performance as he went onto suggest that Liverpool could sign Moura to add to their plethora of attacking options.
He said: “Moura is a tricky forward who could slot into the team if any of the front three [Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane] were out.”
Heung-Min Son
Aldridge also suggested that Liverpool should consider going after Spurs forward Son, who scored 20 goals in all competitions last season, as well.
When heaping praise about Moura, Aldridge added: “The same could be said of his team-mate Son Heung-min, although I would be surprised if Spurs allowed the South Korean to leave after his outstanding season.”
Wilfried Zaha
Former Liverpool player Philippe Coutinho has been linked with an Anfield return following his unsuccessful time at Barcelona so far.
However, Aldridge does not believe re-signing Coutinho would be a wise decision and instead suggested Klopp should try and get wantaway Crystal Palace forward Zaha.
Aldridge said: “With Daniel Sturridge leaving the club and his huge wages coming off the weekly bill, it opens up the opportunity for Klopp to sign an out-and-out goalscorer who could offer something different if one of the front three is injured or out of form.
“Zaha has given Liverpool some real problems in the last couple of years and Klopp’s ability to turn talents of his type into consistent performers has to make him the kind of player who could thrive at Anfield.”
A left-back
As it seems likely Liverpool will miss out on De Ligt, Aldridge has since suggested Liverpool should consider recruiting elsewhere in defence.
With the imminent departure of Alberto Moreno, Aldridge believes another left-back should be brought in as cover for Andy Robertson in case the Scotland captain gets injured.
Aldridge has not suggested any specific left-backs Klopp could go after, however.
