Leeds star Kiko Casilla could be hit with a 12-match ban after the FA found him guilty of racially abusing Charlton’s Jonathan Leko.
The former Real Madrid goalkeeper, 33, was accused of directing a racial slur at the 20-year-old striker when the two sides met in the Championship on September 28.
An investigation was launched by the FA after referee John Brooks reported the incident to the governing body and lip readers were used to determine what was said.
It is understood the FA is now considering banning Casilla for eight to 12 matches over his actions in Leeds’ 1-0 defeat at the Valley, with an official decision to be announced on Wednesday.
Should Casilla be suspended for 12 games, it would rule him out for the rest of 2019, until mid-January, in a huge blow to the Whites’ promotion bid.
The Spaniard has started every game of the Championship season so far, with Marcelo Bielsa’s men currently two points off league leaders West Brom and level on points with second-place Preston.

The FA is determined to crack down on racism and send a message that it won’t be tolerated in the English game.
This follows UEFA’s two-match stadium ban for Bulgaria, which received widespread criticism as too soft, following the racial abuse of England’s players during their Euro 2020 qualifier.
Meanwhile, the FA is still investigating the events at the FA Cup match between Haringey Borough and Yeovil last month, which caused the match to be abandoned.
It is believed the racial abuse from Yeovil’s fans could cause their team to be kicked out of the competition.
