Fomer Liverpool defender Jose Enrique played his first game of football since overcoming rare form of brain cancer.

Enrique was diagnosed with chordoma in May 2018, which is a rare type of tumour that usually occurs in the bones of the skull base and spine, but his was found behind the eye.
The Spaniard, who also played for Newcastle, came on in the 23rd minute of the Liverpool legends match, to a warm reception, against Borussia Dortmund in Hong Kong.
The 33-year-old left-back enjoyed a winning return as Robbie Fowler’s penalty ensured a 3-2 win in this one-off fixture, as Liverpool legends such as Dirk Kuyt and Luis Garcia featured.
After the match, Enrique posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, speaking of how far he has come in the last year since his life-changing illness.
Enrique made 99 appearances for Liverpool after joining from Newcastle in 2011, making his last appearance in a 0-0 draw with West Ham in the FA Cup fourth round in 2016.

A knee injury forced him to retire at Real Zaragoza in 2017 and it was in London for a meeting with Brighton boss Chris Hughton when he was diagnosed with the tumour.
