In September this year, statistics tabled in Haryana’s assembly showed the grim reality of women safety in the state. 3,768 in Gurugram and 3,440 in Faridabad sexual assault cases against women were recorded between August 2014 and September 2018, the data revealed.
555 cases of rape and 2,308 cases of molestation and kidnapping against women and girls were recorded in Gurgaon alone.
However, CM while addressing a function in Panchkula district of the state on November 15 said that incidents of rape haven’t increased. Rapes used to take place in the past and happen today as well. Just that the concerns around it have increased.
