L’Équipe report that in recent hours Gladbach have jumped ahead in the race to sign 19-year-old attacker Bryan Mbeumo.
Several weeks ago, Mbeumo had personally ruled out the possibility of making a move outside of France this summer, which brought an end to Southampton’s pursuit of the teenager.
In Ligue 1, Bordeaux, Montpellier and Strasbourg have all registered their interest, and gone further by making bids worth between €3m and €4m in order to try to sign the attacker. However, from Troyes’ perspective, these offers are too small to compete with the bids from Germany and the Premier League.
At the moment, Gladbach are the best positioned to land the young Frenchman, having made an €8m proposal that has convinced Troyes to be open to a sale. The German side, who for a long time were after Alexis Claude-Maurice (Lorient), are convinced that Mbeumo is the powerful, quick and creative young talent that they need.
Faced with a situation where the proposals emanating from France are not sizeable enough compared for Troyes compared to Gladbach’s, Mbeumo is now considering a move abroad – no decision yet, but thinking hard about BMG.
RMC suggest instead that Troyes have only received three offers so far: from Schalke 04, Sporting Portugal and Bordeaux, all of which they considered to be below their valuation. The outlet claims that the most intense interest in the teenager comes from OGC Nice, who are hoping that they can go after the Frenchman once their purchase by Sir Jim Ratcliffe is ratified with a €6m excluding bonuses bid.
