Gabriel Martinelli is the real deal.
The Brazilian striker continued his blistering start to his Arsenal career with a quickfire double during the crazy defeat to Liverpool on penalties.
The teenager has already scored a staggering seven goals in as many matches for the Gunners this season, and an incredible stat has emerged in light of his electric form.
Martinelli’s brace at Anfield means he is now the highest scoring teenager across Europe’s top five leagues – so yes, Arsenal fans, you certainly look to have a dime in your ranks.
Both of Martinelli’s goals came in traditional poacher’s fashion.
His first came after Liverpool switched off at a free-kick he was on hand to capitalise on some poor defending to slam home from close range.
He then doubled his tally 10 minutes later when Bukayo Saka produced an enticing cross for him to put the Gunners 3-1 ahead.
And the 18-year-old certainly has high hopes for the future, insisting he wants to become a legend at the Emirates.
He recently said: “I have to thank God for this opportunity, the gaffer and the team gave me a big welcome and I’m trying to get opportunities and do the best I can with them.
“I have to be patient since I’m young and the gaffer talked to me saying I should be patient and wait for the chances, because they will come.
“I’m very happy, and I thank god a lot for this. I want to make my career here and try to be a legend.”
In what will probably go down as the most exciting match of the season, the Reds edged it on penalties after the game ended 5-5 in normal time to make it through to the quarter-finals.
Joe Willock thought he’d won it with a strike worthy of the occasion, but Divock Origi equalised in the last minute of stoppage time to send the game to penalties.
And the hosts won the shootout 5-4 as Caoimhín Kelleher saved Dani Ceballos’ spot-kick, allowing 18-year-old Curtis Jones to win it.
