LOS ANGELES, CA — A robbery suspect in the San Fernando Valley died after leaping from a third-story balcony and being shot by Los Angeles Police officers early Thursday morning.
The shooting occurred in Reseda at the 7900 block of Reseda Boulevard at about 3:30 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Officers were serving a search warrant on a 38-year-old man wanted in connection with a string of armored vehicle robberies, Fox11 reported.
The suspect came out with a gun and managed to grab an LAPD drone that had been launched at the scene, the outlet reported.

At about 5 a.m., the wanted man jumped from a third-floor balcony, allegedly armed with a rifle, and was shot by police, the LAPD reported.
“The suspect was armed with a rifle. The suspect did not comply with multiple commands to drop the rifle, resulting in an Officer-Involved Shooting,” the LAPD announced on X. “The suspect was struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.”

The wounded man was in his late 30s.
No one else was injured.

An LAPD spokesman would not confirm the details leading up to the shooting nor release the identity of the suspect.
