Tottenham vs Liverpool LIVE on talkSPORT: Team news, kick-off time and commentary of Premier League clash as Reds aim to extend unbeaten run

Jose Mourinho is back to resume his rivalry with Liverpool on Saturday evening as Tottenham host the runaway Premier League leaders.

The Reds go into the game without a league defeat since January 3, 2019 – a run that stretches 37 games.

Tottenham, meanwhile will be looking to rediscover some form, after starting 2020 with a 1-0 away loss to Southampton before being held to a draw in the FA Cup by Championship side Middlesbrough.

Depending on the other results, a win for Tottenham would not only see them end Liverpool’s incredible unbeaten run, but could see the North London club climb into fifth and close the gap on the top four.

Whereas a win for Liverpool would only see Klopp’s side extend their lead at the top of the table as they look to take another giant step towards their first ever Premier League title.

Tottenham vs Liverpool: Head-to-head

Recent history between the two sides favours Liverpool, with Klopp’s side winning four of the last five Premier League meetings as well as the 2019 Champions League final in Madrid.

Games between these two sides is never shy of goals with the last goalless draw coming in October 2015 and the last four games has seen the winning side find the back of the net twice, with the last stalemate being 2-2 in February 2018 when Harry Kane scored his 100th Premier League goal with a dramatic late penalty.

When the two sides last met in October, Tottenham took an early lead through Kane’s header.

However, Liverpool fought back in the second half, firstly with Jordan Henderson’s equaliser before Mohamed Salah’s penalty completed the turnaround.

Tottenham vs Liverpool: Team news

Tottenham have had a number of first-team players join the injury list since their last Premier League outing with Kane and Sissoko picking up knocks.

Kane suffered a tear in his left hamstring during their New Year’s Day loss to Southampton and is out until April, while Sissoko has undergone surgery to the medial collateral ligament in his right knee after picking up an injury in the same game.

The game also saw Tanguy Ndombele leave the field with a hip problem and the Frenchman did not feature in the 1-1 FA Cup draw against Middlesbrough.

Those three will join Danny Rose (calf), Ben Davies (ankle) and Hugo Lloris (elbow) on the injury list.

There is some good news for Tottenham as Heung-Min Son has served all three games in his suspension and will once again be available for selection.

During Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Everton in the third round of the FA Cup James Milner was forced to limp off the field after just nine minutes having picked up an injury during an attempted challenge.

The league leaders are still waiting to find out the extent of the injury but Jurgen Klopp told press after the victory that Milner believes it is a muscle injury.

He said: “[Milner] has pain that says it’s serious. It’s [his] muscle.”

Meanwhile, Fabinho (ankle), Dejan Lovren (muscle), Joel Matip (knee), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (ankle) and Xherdan Shaqiri (hamstring) all missed the derby and are a doubt for the game against Tottenham.
