Assam Police has registered a suo moto case against a woman, a research scholar of the Gauhati University, for a two-year-old Facebook post on beef eating. She claimed that the post had been deleted a long time ago.
Another person was arrested from Kokrajhar district by the Assam Police for posting objectionable pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on social media.

A senior officer of the Guwahati Police told news agency PTI that they came to know about the post of the research scholar, Rehna Sultana, after a local news portal published it on Wednesday, and registered a case against her under the Information Technology Act.
