OSWEGO, IL — Top elected seats in Oswego could shuffle come April, as the terms for four trustee positions are up for election.
Village Board seats currently held by trustees Tom Guist, Kit Kuhrt, Jennifer Jones Sinnott and Karen Novy will be up for election on April 1, 2025. The former three positions will be for four-year terms, while Novy’s seat, filled after an unexpected vacancy in 2023, will be for a two-year term.
Here’s a look at who filed trustee candidate petitions. Candidates are running for the open four-year terms unless otherwise indicated.

Due to the number of Republican candidates, the village will hold a primary election on Feb. 25 to narrow down the trustee hopefuls to three for the four-year terms and one for the two-year term, Village Clerk Tina Touchette told Patch.
All the candidates filed their petitions between Oct. 21-28, the period of filing for the consolidated primary election. So far, no candidates have filed during the regular period — Nov. 12-18 — for the consolidated election.
Patch will update this article if additional candidates file by the deadline.
