Rugby Australia and the Waratahs have announced that Jed Holloway has put pen to paper on a new contract which will keep him in Australia until at least the end of the 2025 season.
Holloway made his Test debut for Australia in their victory over Argentina in their Rugby Championship opener in Mendoza last year, and he went on to make 10 appearances for the Wallabies, starting in each of those Tests.
Made his Super Rugby debut in 2013
The 30-year-old, who is equally at home in the back-row or at lock, has also represented Australia at schoolboy and U20 level before making his Waratahs bow at Super Rugby level in 2013.
He has already represented the Waratahs in 76 matches over two spells and had a short stint in Japan, where he played for Toyota Verblitz in 2021.
Since returning to the Waratahs last year, Holloway has done well for the Waratahs and helped with their resurgence in Super Rugby, recognised by winning the Matt Burke Cup as the side’s best player in 2022.
His contract extension means he is the latest player of national interest to sign a new deal until at least the British and Irish Lions series in 2025.
Holloway is excited to continue his career as a Waratahs player.

“For me, it was a no-brainer, I’ve loved every minute since I’ve come back from Japan, and it’s an incredibly exciting time here, Waratahs and Australian Rugby,” he told Rugby Australia’s official website.
“We made a lot of progress last year at the Waratahs and I think we’re building something special at the Wallabies as well.
“My family loves Sydney, I’m a proud New South Welshman, and with a World Cup and a home British and Irish Lions tour coming up, there is no place I’d rather be.”
Wallabies boss Eddie Jones said: “Jed is an experienced Super Rugby player who is developing good leadership attributes.
“He’s got the ability to cover the lock and backrow positions, and we’ll be watching his performances for the Waratahs closely this season.”
Waratahs head coach Darren Coleman said: “It’s great not just for the organisation but for Jed and his family to extend for another couple of years.

“The mentorship and knowledge he provides our younger players in invaluable and being a member of the Wallabies leadership group last year demonstrates his value to the national set up.”
