Princeton Schools Appoints Consulting Firm For Superintendent Search

PRINCETON, NJ – The Princeton Board of Education has zeroed in on a consulting firm to help the district in its new superintendent search.

During Wednesday’s special board meeting, members voted to appoint School Leadership LLC to aid in the search for the next superintendent after a recommendation from the ad hoc Committee.

Based out of Long Island, School Leadership LLC has led superintendent searches for several high-performing school districts in the NY metro area over the past 20 years.

Martin Brooks and Rina Beder will be the lead search consultants for the school district.

Five search firms applied through the request for proposals (RFP) process, Betsy Baglio, the chair of the ad hoc committee said.

Within the past week, the committee interviewed four applicants.

The committee unanimously recommended School Leadership LLC to lead the search.

Brooks recently retired as the Executive Director of the Tri-State Consortium, of which Princeton is a member.

He has worked with Princeton for the past 16 years in this role, and this “familiarity with the district was evident throughout the interview,” Baglio said. Meanwhile, Beder worked as an attorney and was a Board of Education trustee in Mamaroneck, NY for six years.

“We believe Marty and Rina know our district and have the experience to lead the search for our next superintendent,” Baglio said.

Brooks and Bader will be presenting to the public in an upcoming meeting.

“We are especially pleased that they plan to spend two full days in Princeton conducting focus groups with stakeholders and have already chosen tentative dates to do that,” Baglio said.

The district will share information about how students, staff, parents, and community members can participate in focus groups. A web page dedicated to the superintendent search will launch on the PPS website soon after School Leadership LLC begins working with the district, officials said.

During the meeting, the Board held off on approving the job description, choosing to have Bader and Brooks review it.

The new superintendent will succeed Interim Superintendent Kathie Foster who will continue to lead the district through June 30, 2025.
