JOLIET — An incident Sunday night at Anthony’s Restaurant and Pub at 3151 Voyager Lane resulted in three criminal charges for 26-year-old Chicago resident Michael Principe.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the incident resulting in the Chicago man’s arrest unfolded around 10:50 p.m. Sunday.

An officer who was working a special assignment detail at Anthony’s Restaurant and Pub learned that security guards had escorted Principe from the business due to his level of intoxication and disruptive behavior.

The officer then told Principe he was not permitted to come back to the bar. Approximately 10 minutes later, Principe returned and entered the bar. This time around, he was escorted outside by the officer, at which time Principe continued to act belligerent and refused to leave the Anthony’s Pub property.

When the officer tried to place Principe into custody and Principe pushed the officer away and ran through the parking lot. Security guards and the officer caught up to Principe and he was placed into custody following a brief struggle.

Following the arrest, it became apparent that Principe had injured his leg while fleeing from officers, English pointed out.
