NORTH BELLPORT, NY — A student at Eastern Suffolk Board of Cooperative Educational Services in North Bellport received a text message from another student that was “perceived as a threat,” prompting a police response, a spokesperson said Thursday.
It was later determined that the message was directed at the recipient, not the school, police said, adding that it was determined that there was no credible threat.
Fifth Precinct Crime Section officers are investigating, police said.

“Out of an abundance of caution police were called to investigate,” he said. “The student in question did not attend school today. The agency’s leadership and campus staff are working with law enforcement to ensure the safety of all students and staff on the Bellport campus. Due to student privacy stipulations no further details can be provided.”
He referred all other inquiries to the police.
