What Do Neighbors Actually Think Of Your Holiday Display? [Block Talk]

ACROSS AMERICA — If your neighborhood is like many in America, lights lining rooftops holding Santa and his reindeer, colorful lawn displays with animated characters and the like have been shining since Thanksgiving weekend.

Many of the people decorating — whether with a few simple swags, wreaths and bows on front doors and porches or with extravagant themed displays with synchronized music that cover the entire lawn — do so with good intentions. Their aim is to create an atmosphere of friendliness and spread joy.

What do you actually think of your neighbors’ festive displays? Do you prefer religious or secular displays? What makes you ooh and aah and what doesn’t? Are you someone who appreciates any effort in the spirit it is intended, or a Grinch who scoffs at the spectacle? Do you feel pressured by your neighbors to put up lights and decorations?
