Speaking to the media in the post-match press conference, Nantes manager Antoine Kombouaré admitted that he was “ashamed” to have faced the defeat in a derby. As quoted by L’Équipe, Kombouaré said:

“We are ashamed. In a derby, losing 3-0… There are many matches where we’re in the game, we feel like we’re in control, and it doesn’t work. There, we made a great start. But like any team in difficulty, we have bad luck. The first goal from a cross blocked by (Nicolas) Pallois hurt us. It’s difficult to find positive points after such a defeat. We’ll try to analyse that and prepare for our home games.”

Following the defeat, Nantes have now dropped to 19th position, while Rennes stand sixth on the league table with 18 points from 10 matches.
