Arsenal vs Tottenham is the dirtiest derby in Premier League history but is it the worst fixture of all?

The pick of the weekend’s games saw Arsenal and Tottenham play out a thoroughly entertaining north London derby at the Emirates Stadium.

It finished 2-2 as the Gunners came back from 2-0 down to claim a point.

Christian Eriksen opened the scoring when he took advantage of Bernd Leno’s error while Harry Kane doubled their lead with a penalty following Granit Xhaka’s stupid challenge on Heung-Min Son.

Alexandre Lacazette halved Arsenal’s deficit just before the break before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang levelled things up in what was arguably the best match of the 2019/20 season so far.

Of course, passions ran high during the game and unsurprisingly referee Martin Atkinson brandished his card in order to calm things down.

Eight players were yellow carded in this match (three Arsenal players and five Spurs players) but north London derbies usually see multiple bookings and the odd red card as well.

In fact, the north London derby is officially the dirtiest derby in Premier League history, with 227 yellow cards handed out since the 1992/93 season.

But where does it rank among the dirtiest fixtures in Premier League history? Below you can see the 15 matches where players have been cautioned the most, with thanks to Opta.
