The 2019/20 Premier League season is almost upon us and talkSPORT will bring you more live football than ever before – with more than 110 top-flight commentaries.
It’s the greatest league in the world and to celebrate its impending return, we have compiled a list of the 20 players we expect to shine the most in the upcoming campaign.
A team of talkSPORT experts have offered insight, numbers have been crunched and one player will be revealed every working day – with the winner of talkSPORT’s Premier League Power Rankings announced on Friday, August 9, before Liverpool kick-off the new season against Norwich City.
16: Andy Robertson
Another Liverpool player on our list and another full-back.
Robertson has enjoyed a meteoric rise. Six years ago, the Scot was playing for Queen’s Park in his native Glasgow.
Last season, he played a starring role as Liverpool lifted the Champions League. He was outstanding in the Premier League too as the Reds went so close to title glory.
The 25-year-old missed only two league games all season as part of a defence which kept 21 clean sheets, while he was also one of their chief attacking threats, having provided 11 of their top-flight goals.
His fine form earned him places in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year and Champions League squad of the season, while he was rewarded with a new long-term contract by the club. To round off a fine individual year, he was also handed the Scotland captaincy.
We fully expect Robertson to shine again this season for Jurgen Klopp’s exciting team and cement his status as the best left-back in the division.
