Dean Saunders stunned talkSPORT listeners by claiming Burnley manager Sean Dyche is a world class coach and ‘would do the same job’ as Pep Guardiola if he was in charge at Manchester City.
Dyche is regarded as one of the top English coaches in football, and has been hailed for his tenure at Burnley – keeping the Lancashire club in the Premier League for four straight years despite one of the top flight’s smallest budgets.
The ‘Ginger Mourinho’ was even linked with the Manchester United job when Jose Mourinho was sacked last year.
Dyche is highly-rated by many, but it appears none more so than Saunders, who was trending again on social media on Wednesday morning for this bold claim.
Speaking on the Final Word, the former Liverpool striker said 48-year-old Dyche ‘knows football inside out’ and is capable of getting his teams to play beautiful football – if only he could call on Sergio Aguero, Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling.
“Everybody thinks Sean Dyche is just a, ‘4-4-2, get it forward, pick the second ball up, get it wide and cross it’, that type of manager,” Saunders told talkSPORT.
“Straight up and down, not modern football.
“But I know that if you give him a team with Man City’s players, he would have them playing like that, he can do both.
“He’s just working with what he’s got at Burnley. He’s getting results out of those players and he’s playing a way to get results.

“If you give him bitter players, he can get them to play as different way.
“He knows how to play all the systems. He knows football inside out.”
