Newcastle United have reportedly told Manchester United they have no interest in selling Sean Longstaff this summer.
United are believed to have made the midfielder one of their top targets this summer as they look to overhaul their squad under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James have already joined the Red Devils from Crystal Palace and Swansea respectively.
Solskjaer is thought to have wanted to get a deal done for Longstaff before they started their pre-season tour in Australia, Singapore and China.
That deadline has been and gone and it looks like it may be unlikely to happen this summer.
Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol claimed that talks had happened between the two clubs but Newcastle are not interested in a deal.
He wrote on Twitter: “There were high-level talks last weekend between Manchester United and Newcastle United about Sean Longstaff.
“Newcastle won’t confirm there were talks but we understand Newcastle categorically not interested in selling Longstaff & see him as a big part of their future plans.”
United are currently in Perth on the first leg of their pre-season tour where they will play matches against Perth Glory and Leeds United.
