26 Girls From Muzaffarpur-Bandra Awadh Express Rescued After Passenger Tweets Trafficking Alert

Social media has once again helped save lives as a case of human trafficking was recently reported – on Twitter. As many as 26 underage girls were rescued by the GRP and RPF from the Muzaffarpur-Bandra Awadh Express after a tweet from a passenger alerted them to the situation.

A passenger on board the train on July 5, tweeted that he was travelling in the S5 coach of the train and noticed around 25 girls crying and looking uncomfortable. Reacting to the tweet, officials in Varanasi, as well as Lucknow, swung into action.
