Lyon start their Ligue 1 campaign with a match against Lorient at the Stade de Gerland. The hosts certainly haven’t had the best of pre-seasons, as they suffered a heavy 6-0 loss to Arsenal as well as missing out on the Trophee des Champions to PSG last weekend. However, their squad remains one of the strongest in the league and will be fully expected to pick up all three points here and push PSG once again in the title race.

Lorient, meanwhile, will be aiming to improve on last season’s 16th placed finish. The visitors were sucked into a relegation battle at times last campaign and manager Sylvain Ripoll will be anxious to avoid a repeat of that situation come next spring.
