France boss Didier Deschamps is considering his options following the announcement yesterday that Real Madrid defender Raphaël Varane has suffered a thigh strain.
According to L’Équipe, Deschamps is considering by-passing his reserve defender Samuel Umtiti in favour of a right-sided central defender, a like-for-like replacement for Varane.
His problem is that both Eliaquim Mangala and Jérémy Mathieu are both left-sided defenders, a mis-calculation when Deschamps announced his original list.

As a result, the French daily reports this morning that Deschamps is likely to invite one of Mapou Yanga Mbiwa, Adil Rami and Loïc Perrin to invite into the group, should he make the decision not to take the risk on Varane…
