JOLIET — We all knew this was coming. Tom Grotovsky, the former long time owner of Joliet’s Great American Bagel, hinted several weeks ago on social media that a major change was coming in regard to his restaurant future. It turns out, that after one full year of reinventing his business at 1101 Essington Road, renaming the restaurant The Curator’s Cafe, major change is on the horizon in 2025.

“Good morning Joliet!” Grotovsky shared Monday morning on Facebook. “It is with sincere and bittersweet thankfulness to all of our followers, customers, employees who have supported us for over 11 years that we announce tomorrow, December 31, 2024, will be our last day in business as The Curator’s Cafe at 1101 Essington Rd, Joliet. We have loved you all and appreciated your business.

“Look for us in the next couple of weeks to re-open at a new location. Our intention is to move our Cafe to the American Legion Post 1080 at the corner of Ingalls and Infantry Drive. We don’t have the exact OPENING DATE yet, but it should be in a couple of weeks.”
