3 Cars Crash On Christmas On Route 59: Plainfield Police

PLAINFIELD, IL — A three-car crash occurred on Christmas at the intersection of Route 59 and 135th Street, Plainfield police said.

A 20-year-old driver from Aurora was issued three citations after crashing into two other cars around 8:07 p.m. Wednesday.

Through witness statements, police learned a 2014 Chevy Sonic, driven by the Aurora man, was driving northbound on Route 59, disregarded a red light at the intersection of 135th Street and struck a 2019 Cadillac CTS, which was traveling eastbound on 135th, Commander Anthony Novak told Patch. After the initial impact, the Sonic crashed into a 2016 Chevy Cruze, which was headed west on 135th.

All three cars were towed from the scene, and all people involved refused medical attention on the scene.

The Aurora man was cited with no valid driver’s license, disobeying a traffic control signal and failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Officers published an alert at 8:25 p.m. alerting drivers of the incident that resulted in northbound Route 59 being shut down for about an hour.
