Gaucho Grill Slated For Temecula's Old Town Bank Of Mexico Location

TEMECULA, CA—Patch has learned that Gaucho Grill is working with the City of Temecula to come to Old Town Front Street.

The Argentinian steakhouse owners hope to open their next restaurant in the empty former Bank of Mexico and First National Bank building at 28645 Old Town Front Street in Temecula.

The building, which has served as a restaurant since 1978, has remained vacant for over a year at the corner of Old Town Front and Main Streets. According to Gaucho Grill’s owner and the city’s planning commission, the structure needs American Disabilities Act updates and other changes necessary for a modern business while paying special attention to its historic nature.

According to the most recent planning commission meeting, the city is processing a Conditional Use Permit regarding ADA compliances, including modifications to colors, the addition of a covered entryway and dining area, new exterior lighting, folding glass window panels, and a Certificate of Historical Appropriateness to modify an existing historic building.

“The project is located in the former location of The Bank of Mexican Food in Old Town and proposes operations Sunday-Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. with no live entertainment,” according to the Planning Commission reports.

The new tenant, Adrian Amosa, a Temecula resident, spoke with Patch briefly about his hopes for the building for 2025.

Gaucho Grill operates four locations in southern California, including Buena Park, Downey, Pasadena, and West Covina. Their philosophy is that dining should be an experience, not just a meal.

“We are excited to bring Gaucho Grill to Temecula and the neighborhood,” Amosa said, adding that as a local, he’s been waiting to bring Gaucho Grill to town for a long time. “We are ready to get moving once we get the green light.”
