After Gauti was let go, everything changed: Robin Uthappa opens up on later years at KKR

Robin Uthappa, who plied his trade with Kolkata Knight Riders from 2014-2019 and moved to the Chennai Super Kings in the 2021-22 season, opened up on his former franchise.

“After Gauti (Gautam Gambhir) was let go, everything changed and i felt alienated. However my love for the fans of KKR was the same and will remain the same forever. I’m forever grateful for their support and I wanna clarify that!! This isn’t about the fans of KKR. I’ll forever love and respect em,” he wrote on Twitter.

In an earlier tweet, he also shed light on negative comments that he was getting after he pledged allegiance to CSK for the play-off stages.

“So much has been said since last night & I thank you for sharing. However I have always maintained that my 1st 4 yrs in KKR wen gauti led was completely diff from my last 2 years and that had a huge impact on my performances. I can assure you it had nothing to do with Captaincy!,” he posted.

Uthappa came to KKR in the seventh season of the IPL and won the Orange Cap with the franchise. He would then leave KKR in 2020 and join the Rajasthan Royals before ending his IPL career as a CSK player. He has also played for the likes of Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Pune Warriors.
