Temecula, Murrieta, Wildomar Freeway Delays: Caltrans Update

SOUTHWEST RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Traffic delays are expected next week on Southwest Riverside County freeways due to construction work, according to Caltrans.

From 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., March 4-8, contractors will work on Interstate 15 from state Route 79 in Temecula to California Oaks Road in Murrieta, and from Wildomar Trail to Bundy Canyon Road in Wildomar to install trash capture devices designed to help keep refuse out of storm drain systems. Local residents and businesses may experience “significant noise and vibrations” during work hours, according to Caltrans.

Contractors will also perform north- and southbound I-15 curb and gutter work from Murrieta’s Murrieta Hot Springs Road to Wildomar’s Bundy Canyon Road. The work is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., March 4-8, and overnight, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., March 4-9 (work wraps up at 6 a.m. March 9). Freeway on- and offramps are also affected, according to Caltrans.

Bridge preventative maintenance is also planned across Interstates 15 and 215 in Riverside County. The work is scheduled daily from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., March 4-9 (work wraps up at 6 a.m. March 9). Various lane and ramp closures will occur on I-15 from Winchester Road in Temecula to Ontario Ranch Road in Ontario, and on I-215 from Murrieta to state Route 91 in Riverside. Work is also scheduled on state Route 91 From Green River Road to University Avenue, Caltrans reported.

Motorists are asked to look for signage alerting of lane closures and construction zones.

“Drivers should anticipate traffic delays and plan ahead,” Caltrans said.

All work is dependent on the contractor receiving materials for each job function. It can be changed or canceled at any time, according to Caltrans.
