Lyon have this afternoon announced that centre-back Marcelo would be sent to train with the reserve side starting from today, following “inappropriate conduct” in the dressing room following a 3-0 defeat to Angers at the weekend. After the match, manager Peter Bosz had held a meeting with directors Juninho and Vincent Ponsot to take immediate decisions.
L’Équipe report that the player had behaved inappropriately towards one of his team-mates, while his poor performances in the opening two matches of the season have also contributed to the decision to set Marcelo aside, with Les Gones looking to terminate his contract.
The 34-year-old had signed a contract extension earlier this year, having been a prominent member of the team under Rudi Garcia, but has seen a considerable drop in form – among the reasons given for this has been his lack of dedication.

Having been at the club since 2017, Marcelo now looks to have played his final game for Lyon. In its statement, the club adds that it is working on several transfer targets, in concertation with manager Peter Bosz.
