SHELTON, CT — StretchLab, a boutique health and wellness franchise offering one-on-one assisted stretching services, recently opened its seventh Connecticut location on Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton.
Owner Adam Kanzer said the Shelton location opened to paying members just before Thanksgiving, however the official grand opening will be held within the next couple of months.
Located in the city’s new Fountain Square, the studio hopes to introduce people of all ages and fitness levels to various health and wellness benefits as they work with “flexologists” in a fun and open environment, an experience that may be unique to Shelton residents.

“Shelton provided us an opportunity to go to a community that wasn’t so oversaturated with boutique fitness and other fitness-related concepts,” Kanzer said to Patch. “We thought we could really stand out.”
Additionally, the Fountain Square area offered the franchise some unique advantages compared to other areas of the city.

“[Fountain Square] is a great new project that seems to have a ton of buzz to it,” Kanzer said. “We like that people seem willing to come to it from every direction. “
StretchLab Shelton is owned by KHR, the nation’s largest StretchLab franchisee operators who have six other locations in Westchester and Fairfield counties. The group is looking forward to introducing their concept to Shelton at a time when people could use it the most, according to a news release provided by the franchise.
Kazer said StretchLab’s unique approach to fitness will help the studio stand out among other health and wellness facilities in the area.
“While other fitness concepts tend to compete against one another, assisted stretching is complimentary to the other things people do to stay active,” Kazer said. “I don’t run or stretch, I run and stretch, or in our case get stretched.”
StretchLab offers a variety of one-on-one personalized stretching services, including a 25-minute stretch that concentrates on the client’s current stretching needs, as well as a 50-minute head-to-toe deep stretch that addresses all major muscle groups.
To give area residents an opportunity to become familiar with the StretchLab experience, the Shelton studio will celebrate its opening with special discounted pricing for their services, which include 4-times-a-month and 8-times-a-month memberships, as well as single stretches.
“Assisted stretching is one of those things that hard to describe in words, but as soon as you get one, the second you step off the table and feel years younger and feel the immediate improvement in your flexibility and mobility, you know right away that it’s something you should incorporate into your life,” Kazer said, “and now is an especially good time as we’re offering founder’s rates, which will be the lowest prices we’ll ever offer, and they are lifetime rates.”
Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce President Bill Purcell said the chamber was delighted to welcome StretchLab to the Shelton community, and specifically to the growing roster of Fountain Square tenants.
“The owners have built a beautiful studio at the Fountain Square campus, where they are joining established tenants Panera Bread and Metro Mattress, along with a group of new tenants Chick-fil-A, Physician One Urgent Care and Fountain Square Wine & Spirits,” Purcell said. “Individually and collectively, these businesses have enjoyed early and strong support from the Shelton community and a synergistic relationship that bodes well for their future.”
