ANTIOCH, IL — Village officials in Antioch plan “to fit as many people that we can safely fit into our downtown area as possible” during Thursday night’s free Rodney Atkins concert.
“We are expecting a large crowd for the concert. Last year, our concert with Royal Bliss brought in about 3,500 people. We expect this to be a larger crowd — so we’ve adjusted our layout to allow for more people,” said Jim Moran, communications manager for the village of Antioch. “We have plans in place to fit as many people that we can safely fit into our downtown area as possible. If needed, our police department is ready to make additional street closures in the area near the bandshell.”
The first concert of Antioch’s free summer concert series will begin at 6 p.m. at the William E. Brook Entertainment Complex, 900 Skidmore Drive in Antioch. Mackenzie O’Brien will be opening for the concert, and the venue will open at 4 p.m.

Coolers are not allowed into the venue, according to village officials, but will be a beer tent, which is cash-only, that will have an assortment of beer, soda, and water.
There will also be several food trucks on site during the concert.
Concert goers are encouraged to not bring chairs or blankets to sit on. In addition, reserving spots will not be allowed, and any items set up before 4 p.m. will be removed, according to a village of Antioch Facebook post.
The village of Antioch partnered with Chicago radio station US99 (99.5) and the Raymond Auto Group to make Atkins event possible.
“This concert promises to be a fantastic event for all ages, and we are grateful for the support of our generous sponsors. Come join us for a night of great music and experience all that downtown Antioch has to offer,” said Antioch Mayor Scott Gartner.
