Neymar reaffirms his support for Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro

Despite being accused by Lula of supporting Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro for all the wrong reasons, Neymar has not stopped voicing his backing to the far-right incumbent.

As reported by L’Équipe, the Brazilian footballer now appeared on Bolsonaro’s YouTube channel to extend his support to the presidential candidate. The report understands that Neymar joined the live stream on purpose to send a reply to Lula, who accused the 30-year-old Paris Saint-Germain attacker of supporting Bolsonaro because the president had supposedly forgiven the player’s income tax debt.

The discussion between Neymar and Bolsonaro, as per the French outlet, lasted more than 35 minutes on his YouTube channel, which has more than five million subscribers. The former Barcelona forward has always shown his support for the far-right candidate. And it was not an exception either this time, with the PSG playmaker admitting on the live stream,

“What motivated me to express my opinion are the values that the President represents, they are the same as mine, those of my family. He defends the people, the children, the family… It’s important to take a stand. I call on those who hesitate to do so. It’s a right, it’s important to express your values. I’m proud to do that.”

Neymar was suspended from PSG’s 3-0 win over Ajaccio on Friday evening. However, with the reigning Ligue 1 champions hosting Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League in midweek, the Brazilian should be back in Christophe Galtier’s starting XI.
