As we noted yesterday, WWE Raw star Bayley posted footage of a surprise marriage proposal made by a WWE fan during a recent Wizard World Comic Con appearance.
The fan used a meet and greet photo opportunity with Bayley to propose to his now-fiancee, and Bayley captured the moment on film. You can check out Bayley’s video above.
The recently engaged fan is also a ProWrestling.com reader, named Trevor, and he sent along the following account of how the proposal, and Bayley’s subsequent filming of the moment, went down:
“I’m Trevor (the guy who asked his girlfriend to marry him at the [Comic] con in the photo op). Totally appreciate that you guys wrote about this, and I just wanted to say Bayley was unaware of what I was doing. I never asked her to film anything. I had purchased two photo ops for Bayley with the intent of the second pose actually just being me proposing to my now fiance.
The three of us took the group hug photo together and right as they were ready for the second pose I said there’s only pose I can think of that I want to do, and it’s this – and got on my knee and stuck the ring out. Samantha (my now fiance) and Bayley both said, “oh my god what is happening”. Bayley said “I gotta share this, keep going”, and got out her phone as I was saying to Samantha “I love wrestling, I love you, would you be my tag team partner for life and marry me?” Which can be partially be heard in Bayley’s video.
Bayley was never asked to do anything nor was she in on this, I wanted that happiest moment of my life to be in front of the happiest person on the roster.”
The following story comes from the fiancee, Samantha:
“Saturday started out like any normal morning for me. Get up, take too long singing Beyoncé songs in the shower, guzzle a 40 of coffee. Just regular things. Trevor (the fella) and I don’t live together yet, so he gets to my place to see that I’m running about 5 minutes behind -which really is on time for me – so I thought we would be fine. Wrong. He gets really naggy and is like “Babe we need to get down there or we’ll never find parking” and mentally I’m like calm the fuck down its 745 and doors don’t open till 930… what I actually say is “OK, let’s go.”
We make it down there find the perfect parking space, there is still like 2 hours until our photo-op with Bayley and he’s still being CRAZY about time. I’m trying to give myself reasons not to murder the man I love very much like he hasn’t had breakfast, he doesn’t like large crowds maybe it’s that, maybe he didn’t sleep very well… because if he told me one more thing about being late I actually might have snapped 😃
This is the good part:
We make it to the photo, we’re first in line (like you didn’t see that coming,) we had bought two photo packages for what I assumed was two posses (one regular, one silly.) We get in there, we take the first photo the way God intended. Big smiles! Click! I’m getting ready for what I assume is going to be a ridiculous picture when my boyfriend says “There’s only one pose I really want to do” and gets on one knee. Then everything starts going super slow and hyper speed at the same time. I’m sweating, I’m concerned for the line of people behind us but also I kind of don’t give a crap about the line of people behind us, I feel like my insides might just fall out, I see Bayley in my peripheral just whip out her phone and instantly start live tweeting without a second to spare. I have 1000 questions the first being “NOW!?” which I believe actually comes out of my mouth. Then Trevor looks into my eyes and says “Baby, I love wrestling and I love you more. Make me the happiest man and be my tag team partner for life” To which I replied “Absolutely” we fumbled to do the ring he wanted to put it on me I wasn’t sure what my hands we doing to be completely honest. Then on our way out Bayley says “ That’s never happened to me before!” and I was like “Me either!” and that was that.
Then about an hour or so later some total stranger comes up to me and says “Congratulations” and I looked at her super weird and she adds “on your engagement” and the light bulb clicks, I thank her and ask if she had been in line, and she informs me that she saw the video on Instagram. I’m pretty sure right then I almost died. This happened all day for the whole rest of the day “ OMG you’re the girl!” or “Congratulations sweetie” some people even asked me to see the ring. It was insane.
