After a video package recapping Smackdown’s crushing loss at Survivor Series this past weekend, Shane McMahon made his way out to kick off the show. He began by thanking his team on Sunday, saying he was proud of the entire roster because they proved, even in defeat, that they are not the “B-Show” in WWE. That is of course except for two individuals…

Right on cue, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn came out and had the audacity to demand an appology from Shane for not putting them on Team Smackdown to begin with. They took turns talking about all the people they could have beaten on Sunday, which apparently includes both Triple H and Brock Lesnar. McMahon told them to shut the hell up, because he has just “two words” for them… Owens said that Shane couldn’t fire them because they’re future Hall of Famers and he’d be a complete idiot to get rid of them. With that being said, “Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, YOU’RE FI–”

Daniel Bryan’s music hit and the Smackdown general manage made his way to the ring. He told Shane that he had ever right to fire these two, because everyone on the roster completely hates them. Sami tried to suck up to him, raving about how “generous” and “reasonable” he was, but Bryan yelled at him to shut up. The GM claimed he had to send Randy Orton home because he couldn’t be held responsible for what he wanted to do to both of them. So all that being said, tonight Kevin and Sami would team up to face all three members of The New Day. But that’s not all! Because they basically cost Team Smackdown the win at Survivor Series, their match tonight will feature the entire roster surrounding the ring to get a little revenge!

SHELTON BENJAMIN vs. JEY USO

Last week we had Chad Gable vs. Jimmy Uso in singles action, so I guess we’re still on that program. This was actually Benjamin’s first singles match on WWE television in seven years.

Benjamin was all fired up as the bell run, going right after the tag team champion and beating the stuffing out of him in the corner. Jimmy got on the apron to assist his brother, but Gable came around and threw him off, giving Shelton the distraction to send his opponent crashing into the barricade. He slowed things down with a side headlock and various rest holds during the commercial break, completely keeping Uso from gaining any offense thus far. Byron Saxton pointed out that 11 years ago when the Usos were just getting their start in the business it was actually the World’s Greatest Tag Team that took them under their wing.

After a few minutes Jey hit a big Samoan Drop after a few stiff right hands to get some breathing room. He looked to fly over the ropes but Gable got in his way, leading to another brawl between him and Jimmy. Benjamin snuck back in and almost stole the match with a roll-up, but Jey kicked out and leveled him with a sick superkick for two-and-a-half. He climbed to the top rope and looked to put things away with a splash, but Benjamin rolled out of the way and connected with Pay Dirt to pick up three.
