As noted, Roman Reigns took part in the unveiling of the new Georgia Tech college football uniforms this past weekend.
The Atlanta-Journal Constitution reports that this had been in the works for a while, as Reigns attended his alma mater’s game against Virginia Tech in 2017. He sat with Georgia Tech Athletic Director Todd Stansbury in the owner’s suite during the game.
Eventually, the school, which Reigns played at for three seasons as linebacker during his college years, booked him through WWE for the appearance, which was kept a secret until he appeared on stage on Friday.
In the aforementioned Atlanta-Journal Constitution article, Reigns spoke about the new uniforms for his old team.
“I like it a lot,” said Reigns of the new uniforms. “One thing I was concerned about is nowadays, not to pick on Oregon and all the other teams, but you can have all those other selections and all these different options, and it sometimes it can look a little cartoonish.”
Reigns added, “They get a lot of good publicity on their stuff, and a lot of it does look good. But sometimes you can costume your identity, I think, and I like what we’ve done. We’ve taken the new school, and we’ve met it in the middle of the old school.”
