Leicester have opened contract talks with Brendan Rodgers as they seek to end talk of him possibly joining Arsenal as their new manager.
The high-flying Foxes have impressed since Rodgers took charge earlier this year, and they are currently Liverpool’s closest challengers for the Premier League title.
Rodgers, 46, has long been linked with a move to one of England’s biggest clubs – Arsenal allegedly looked at him before he left Celtic – and it is no surprise his fine work in the Midlands has made him a hot topic once again.

The Gunners are understood to have Rodgers down as a prime candidate to succeed Unai Emery in the Emirates dugout, with interim head coach Freddie Ljungberg doing little to suggest he deserves the job on a permanent basis.
However, Leicester are moving to end the speculation of Rodgers‘ possible switch to Arsenal once and for all by offering him a contract extension, which the Telegraph say is ‘lucrative’.

He is in line to get a hefty pay rise on his current £5million-a-year salary, while the £14m release clause in the deal is also likely to be increased.
Wednesday’s defeat of bottom side Watford kept Leicester second in the Premier League, eight points behind leaders Liverpool.
The Foxes, who have lost only twice all season, are ahead of reigning champions Manchester City as well as Chelsea, who currently reside in the final top four position.
