In 2016 it was dubbed as the biggest and most daring train heist in India, when a group of robbers managed to steal some Rs 5.78 crore currency from a train which was travelling from Selem in Tamil Nadu to the state’s capital Chennai.
The incident happened on August 9, 2016, when as many as Rs 342 crore was being transported by a railway parcel van from IOB, Salem to RBI, Chennai.
