Granit Xhaka appeared to tell Arsenal fans to ‘f*** off’ as he was substituted in his side’s 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.
The Gunners let a two-goal lead slip against Roy Hodgson’s men at the Emirates on Sunday.
In search of a third goal, manager Unai Emery replaced Xhaka with winger Bukayo Saka in the 61st minute.
The Arsenal captain was jeered off by home fans – and responded by cupping his ears as he walked off.
Xhaka then allegedly swore at a section of supporters, before taking his shirt off and walking straight down the tunnel.
The midfielder was made Arsenal captain in September, despite his rocky start to the season, which saw him needlessly concede a penalty in a 2-2 draw with rivals Tottenham.
And now, his role as skipper could come under serious threat after his actions towards his own fans.
Arsenal looked to be heading for a sixth successive home win in all competitions when quickfire goals from Sokratis Papastathopoulos and David Luiz gave Emery’s side a two-goal advantage in the ninth minute.
However, Luka Milivojevic pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 32nd minute, before Jordan Ayew completed the comeback shortly after half-time.
Arsenal stay fifth in the Premier League, but are four points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, who beat Burnley 4-2 on Saturday.
