Police have charged a 15-year-old boy after Scott Brown was taunted over his sister’s death following Celtic’s 2-0 defeat of Rangers on Sunday.
A video shared on social media showed the incident, which occurred after Sunday’s Old Firm derby won by the Hoops at Rangers’ Ibrox home.
As Brown made his way to Celtic’s team bus after the match, a supporter can be heard shouting: “How’s your sister?”
The Hoops skipper stared back before police got involved and ordered the abuser to move on.
A different supporter can be heard in the video saying: “Mate, come on to f*** man, that’s out of order.”
The abuse of Brown is a reference to his sister, Fiona, who died from skin cancer 11 years ago, aged 21.
A police spokesperson announced on Wednesday that a 15-year-old boy has been charged in connection with the incident.
Police Scotland said in a statement: “Following social media coverage regarding an incident, involving a Celtic player outside Ibrox on Sunday 1 September 2019, we can confirm a 15 year old male has been charged in connection with the incident.
“He has been referred to the Early and Effective Interventions Co-ordinator.”

Rangers earlier confirmed they will ban the supporter who abused Brown from Ibrox for life.
Celtic’s skipper has previously been a target of similar abuse on social media, having been sent an image about Fiona and Hoops legend Tommy Burns, who also died of skin cancer, two years ago.
