Manchester United are plotting a January move for Tottenham star Christian Eriksen, according to reports.
The 27-year-old wanted to quit Spurs during the summer transfer window after admitting he desires a new challenge.
Tony Cascarino says Man United WILL make Premier League top four this season
Manchester United and Real Madrid showed interest in Eriksen, but were unable to meet Tottenham’s reported £70million asking price.
And with less than a year left on his Spurs deal, The Sun claim United are set to test Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy’s resolve in January.
And Spurs could cash in on Eriksen to avoid the playmaker leaving on a free transfer next summer, though they may fail to get anywhere near their £70m valuation given his contract situation.
United have lacked creativity in midfield as the club have won just one of their opening four games.
And that problem could see Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer turn to Eriksen, who has notched 50 Premier League assists over the past four seasons.

After failing to leave Tottenham, Eriksen said he wished his career was like Football Manager, the popular video game.
When asked if it was wrong to publicly reveal his desire to quit Spurs, he said: “No it wasn’t, but it is football and you never know what happens in football and many things always come into play.
“I wish I could decide just as in the Football Manager but unfortunately I can’t.
“I don’t read much of what is written. And now I have been involved for many years, where there have been many rumours every year.
“But it’s clear that it’s been a little more violent this year because my contract is about to expire.
“I know a lot of people are interested in where to play. That’s the way it is. This is how it is in a top club if you have done well. There will always be rumours.”
Following his goal in Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Sunday, Eriksen will look to reclaim a regular starting place in Mauricio Pochettino’s side after being left on the bench against Aston Villa and Newcastle in recent weeks.
