Heung-Min Son returns to the Tottenham starting XI for the first time this season after completing a three-match ban.
The midfielder was shown a red card in the defeat to Bournemouth back in May and missed the final game of the 2018/19 season, as well as the opening two matches of this campaign against Aston Villa and Manchester City.
Club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele has been ruled out after sustaining a minor injury during training this past week.
Dele Alli has returned to first-team training for Spurs having recovered from a hamstring problem, but the match against Steve Bruce’s side comes too soon.
Allan Saint-Maximin makes his first start for Newcastle since his summer move from Saint-Etienne, but DeAndre Yedlin and Andy Carroll remain sidelined.
