The company, based in the city of Uji, Kyoto Prefecture, made the decision as its staff members are busy dealing with the aftermath of the deadly attack.
The novel solicitation period for the 11th edition of its annual competition was initially set to run from June through November, and the results were slated to be announced in spring next year.
Novels that win the top prize in the studio’s competition are published and made into anime.
The name of the suspect in the attack has been found among a record of authors who submitted novels to the company as part of a previous edition of the contest, the company’s lawyer said last month.
